We're excited to announce the release of Netmaker v0.25.0! This latest version brings significant improvements to user management and overall system performance. Let's dive into what's new and improved in this release.

What's New

Advanced User Management with RBAC Roles

One of the standout features in v0.25.0 is the introduction of advanced user management with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). This powerful addition allows administrators to define and assign specific roles to users, providing granular control over permissions and access within your Netmaker networks. Whether you're managing a small team or a large organization, this feature will help streamline your user administration and enhance security.

User Invitation via Email and Magic Links

We've simplified the process of adding new users to your Netmaker networks. Now, you can invite users via email using convenient magic links. This feature makes onboarding new team members or clients faster and more user-friendly than ever before.

What's Fixed/Improved 🛠

Scalability Improvements

We've made significant strides in improving Netmaker's scalability. These enhancements will allow your networks to grow more efficiently, handling larger numbers of nodes and users with improved performance.

Optimized Traffic Flow Over MQ

Traffic flow over the Message Queue (MQ) has been optimized, resulting in more efficient communication between nodes and the Netmaker server. This improvement should lead to reduced latency and better overall network performance.

Improved Peer Updates with Batching

Peer updates now utilize batching, which means more efficient processing of changes across your network. This enhancement will be particularly noticeable in larger networks with frequent updates.

Known Issues 🐞

  • Erratic traffic data in metrics
  • Custom private/public key for Remote Access Gateway clients not propagating to other peers
  • IPv6 DNS entries not working
  • Stale peers on the interface when forcibly removed from multiple networks at once
  • Domain name still pingable when DNS toggle is switched off
  • WireGuard DNS issue on Ubuntu 24.04 and some newer Linux distributions (affecting Remote Access Client and plain WireGuard external clients)

We're actively working on resolving these issues. For the WireGuard DNS issue, a workaround is available in our help center.
